Product and Technical Adviser, Research Services
Salary – TBD
Hours: 09h00 to 17h00 – Monday to Friday (35hrs/week)
Overall responsibility
To assist with management of the Research Model and Services business, ensuring the continued high professional reputation of Charles River’s products and services.
The role requires close cooperation with Specialists, Account Managers, Finance, Production, CSD, IS, RADS and GEMS Management teams to deliver effective delivery of RMS solutions to meet client needs. Prepare the related forecast and sales budgets. This requires proactive identification of market trends and specific client needs to ensure a relevant, effective and efficient service business.
Your Manager will assign you your main product portfolio of focus, which would typically expand with gained experience in the role. Assignments will involve work of a complex, financial and confidential nature.
Main duties/responsibilities
• Alone and through convening and leading project teams:
1) Identify and execute most efficient supply strategies to make competitive proposals to meet client needs.
2) Design and document procedures and suggest improvements to increase efficiency.
3) Prepare and issue quotations and, responses to RFPs and tenders and technical enquiries
4) Recommend to senior management portfolio enhancements.
5) Define and deliver appropriate legal contracts for operation of product and service projects.
• Advise and sell to internal and external clients on the RMS product range
• Generate, analyse and communicate appropriate business metrics to inform strategy and sales tactics.
• Maintain up to date knowledge of the R&D process and the CR products and services, to provide detailed guidance and support to customers and colleagues.
• Research and identify new customers/ markets and execute appropriate tactics to deliver new RMS business.
• Seek, follow up, develop and initiate new business opportunities with existing or new accounts, including face to face meetings or presentations at client or CR facilities, phone/email contact and all other relevant media.
• Network to build contacts and long-term relationships in top accounts.
• Contribute to achievement of the annual RMS sales budgets and operating income, analysing data, providing revenue/probability forecasts and sales projections. Contributing to strategic/operational plans relating to the RMS business areas.
• Distribute marketing materials for products and services, and generation materials, working with sales and marketing.
• Ensure that order submissions and despatch procedures comply with customer expectations.
• Understand the operation of relevant UK and international legislation in relation to RMS and applying and providing guidance internally and externally.
• Coordinate and provide support to external customers in relation to Diagnostic Testing sample collections both onsite and at customer facility. Ensuring professionalism is maintained at customer facility and continue to offer a high service level to customers.
