Job Summary
We are looking for an Assistant Project Manager to join our Insourcing Solutions team, located in Bethesda, MD.

What impact you will have!
In the Assistant Project Manager role, you will plan, organize, and direct the activities of animal husbandry and technical support program; as well as manage a staff of supervisors, veterinary technicians, animal care technicians, cagewash technicians, and animal facility support staff.
You will also perform the following duties:
- Assist with assigning duties to supervisors and subordinate animal care staff. Conduct periodic meetings with subordinate staff to keep them informed of current and future projects, policies and procedures. Assist employees with E-QIP, facility access, timekeeping, and maintains badge spreadsheet.
- Assist with management of assigned animal care staff supervisors to ensure the proper inventory, care, feeding and delivery of animals, sanitation of the equipment and facilities, the procurement and storage of supplies, and the maintenance of related equipment and facilities.
- Conduct or participate in interviews of applicants for open positions. Monitor performance of employees and conduct periodic performance evaluations. Investigate personnel problems and develops performance improvement plans, provides counseling and disciplinary actions to employees in accordance with company policies and procedures. Write employee performance evaluations.
- Orient new animal care personnel with facility and company policies, work rules and guidelines.
- Assist with oversight and/or schedules the maintenance of the facility and all animal care equipment through facility supervisors and animal care staff to ensure proper maintenance, sanitation, and operation. Ensure that proper environmental conditions are maintained in the facility.
- Develop, write, and implement standard operating procedures for the care and enrichment of laboratory animals and the operation of the facility. Establish specifications for recommendations for the selection and purchase of animal care related equipment. Design, plan, organize, and execute disaster preparedness documentation and emergency procedures.
- Assist with technical trainer and supervisors’ development of course content and materials for training and continuing education of the animal care staff. Assist in assessing training needs, as well as developing and presenting training for staff and investigators.
Job Qualifications
The following are minimum requirements related to the Assistant Project Manager position:

Bachelor of Science in Animal Science of related field

Minimum of three years of supervisory experience in a multiple labor category animal facility

AALAS certification at the Laboratory Animal Technologist (LATG) level and CMR. ILAM preferred.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
The pay range for this position is $48 – $52 per hour ($99,840 – $108,160 annually). Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
